Get Your Summer Theater Tickets

Aug. 1–Some shows are in their final days, others have yet to open. And if you’re planning to get out to Medora, N.D., to see the Medora Musical, you’ve got about a month to get there. Here’s a roundup of area shows and the summer theater season.

Hurry, or you’ll miss them

n “Trailer Park”: Tonight is the final night for “The Great American Trailer Park Musical,” with an 8 p.m. show at Fire Hall Theatre. Location: Grand Forks Tickets: $15, $12; $10 if you dress like “trailer trash”: (701) 746-0847.

n “Jungle Book”: Final two days for “Jungle Book” will be 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Saturday at Warroad High School Mini Theatre, presented by Warroad Summer Theater Company Popcorn Players. Location: Warroad, Minn. Tickets: $5.

n “Ring of Fire”: Nine performances remain for the Johnny Cash-inspired musical “Ring of Fire” showing at Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts: 8 tonight and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and Aug. 8-9; and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 10. Location: New Rockford, N.D. Tickets: $19; (701) 947-2174.

n “Three Days”: The final two performances of “Three Days of Rain” will be at 8 tonight and Saturday at Chief Theater, presented by Paul Bunyan Playhouse. Location: Bemidji. Tickets: $10, $22; (218) 751-7270.

n “Hello Dolly”: Final days for Fort Totten Little Theatre’s “Hello, Dolly!” will be 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Location: Near Devils Lake. Tickets: $18; dinner and show, $43; (701) 662-8888.

n “Les Miz”: The final two shows for the musical “Les Miserables” will be at 6 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Frost Fire Theatre. Location: Near Walhalla, N.D. Tickets: $11 and up; (701) 549-3600.

One month left

n “The Medora Musical”: The two-hour professionally produced musical variety show will continue nightly at 8:30 MDT through Sept. 6. Starring Job Christenson of Grand Forks, the show is performed in the outdoor Burning Hills Amphitheatre in the North Dakota Badlands at Medora. n “Love You’: Crimson Creek Players will open “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Aug. 8 and 2 p.m. Aug. 9 in Empire Arts Center, Grand Forks. This musical comedy takes on the truths and myths about contemporary relationships, with a four-person cast that includes Debra Berger, Darin Kerr, Jared Kinney and Misti Koop. n “Annie”: This timeless story of Little Orphan Annie will play at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 6-9 and Aug. 13-16 and 2 p.m. Aug. 10 and 17 at Warroad (Minn.) High School Mini Theater. The Warroad Summer Theatre show will feature Camilla Prosise as Annie, a spunky 11-year-old seeking her parents; Sara Krause as Miss Hannigan, the unpleasant orphanage matron who dislikes children but is fond of alcoholic beverages; and Larry Richert as Oliver Warbucks, a rich businessman who opens his heart and home to Annie. n “Music Man”: Paul Bunyan Theatre will present “The Music Man” at 8 p.m. Aug. 6-9, 2 p.m. Aug. 10 and 8 p.m. Aug. 13-16 at Chief Theatre, Bemidji. Fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill (Zach Curtis) cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying band instruments and uniforms, but his plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for the town librarian (Karen Jensen). n “Pippi”: Mask & Rose Theater’s summer youth production “Pippi Longstocking — the Musical” will be presented Aug. 14-18 under the big top tent near the Tourist Information Center, Lake Bemidji.
