Theatre in the Gardens

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is performing in more than 150 different locations as part of a garden theatre season.

With a large cast, traditional costumes and an original music score, they are bringing two of their productions to Devon this month.

Shakespeare's final triumph, The Tempest will be performed at Cockington next Friday. It is a play of romance and revenge on a magical island kingdom, where mischievous sprites play havoc with shipwrecked sailors and the most powerful exiled duke Prospero lives out his final exacting revenge.

Chapterhouse's offering for children is the wonderfully eccentric and lyrical Alice's Adventures in Wonderland which will be performed at Escot Park, near Exeter, on August 27.

As a show for children of all ages, this production features the most famous characters from Lewis Carroll's masterpiece and has music, song and dance to accompany some of the marvellous poetry.
