Call for Street Entertainers

Buskers and street entertainers from across South Devon are being encouraged to take part in a talent competition and win a spot at Glastonbury 2009.

Competition South West is staging a heat for all street performers at The Hoe, Plymouth,tomorrow from 11am.

Each act has 10 minutes on stage and a panel of judges will make all the decisions about the qualifiers for the finals.

First prize is a guaranteed spot at the 2009 Glastonbury Festival. Runners-up will have recording time in a professional studio and a professional photo shoot with prints and digital images. They will also have gigs booked at festivals and nightclubs in the South West.

There will be three heats in all and the top five acts from each heat will go through to the finals in Totnes on Saturday, September 13.

All the entrance fees go directly to the Children’s World Charity.

To enter contestants need to call 01503 230 288 or visit www.bornhecticevents.co.uk where they will find an application form. Each performer pays pounds5 to enter.
