Festival Wowing Crowds
THE STREETS of a North market town came to life at the weekend as the annual Alnwick International Music Festival kicked into action.
For the 33rd year in a row, the festival has attracted hundreds of talented performers.
Among the acts turning heads yesterday – the opening day of the week-long festival – were the Sardinian folk dance group Quartiere Villanova, a dance group founded in 1976 by young Sardinians passionate about their region’s traditional dances.
Over the week, 20,000 people are expected in the town. In all, 250 international acts will showcase their skills, traditions and national costumes in the town’s Market Place.
