Campaign Coverage Unfair, Unbalanced

August 11, 2008

Having worked for CBS Network News back in the “golden era” of TV news, I find this year’s McCain-Obama campaign very disturbing. It is by far the least fair and balanced TV news coverage I’ve ever seen.

The favoritism toward Barack Obama is primarily noticeable on most of the major cable TV news channels (especially MSNBC). The news programming producers load up their panelists with “supposed experts” who shamelessly favor Obama. Well, shame on them, because not being fair and balanced with the news is not only unfair to viewers, but it is wrong and very irresponsible!

One consistently balanced and fair news outlet is The Jim Lehrer News Hour on PBS. If you watch that, you also are often treated to the pleasure of seeing the best female interviewer on TV: Margaret Warner.
