‘Rocky Horror’ Set for Remake
A remake of the 1975 cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" reportedly is to be co-financed by Sky Movies in England and MTV in the United States.
The original movie musical starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Meat Loaf, and was based on the 1973 stage show "The Rocky Horror Show" by Richard O'Brien.
Lou Adler, executive producer of the original movie, reportedly is to serve as executive producer on the remake, as well.
"'The Rocky Horror' phenomenon has a life of its own that has reincarnated itself in numerous ways since its birth," Adler told the BBC. "Our hope has always been that each new endeavor and rebirth will expose the 'Rocky Horror' experience to new audiences and expand the fan base."
"The original has some qualities that can't be reproduced but a remake could have its own very different strengths and qualities," added Jim Sharman, who co-wrote the original screenplay with O'Brien and directed the film.
