Riffs Strikes a Chord With Music Lovers in Stroud

August 14, 2008

Riffs is the local music store where business has blossomed. Stephan Meester tells us a bit more about what makes Riffs special.

What does your business do?

We are predominantly a retailer of musical instruments, but we also provide a repairs service as well as technical advice.

How long have you been here?

We opened when the old Music Centre closed down four years ago.

Are there any other branches?

No, just this one.

What makes you special?

It’s a shop where you can come and try out instruments and speak to people who have experience with the equipment. There’s a nice atmosphere in here, and it’s more than just a retail store.

Why do you trade in Stroud?

It’s a very creative town and I like to be involved with all that. The more I can help put Stroud on the map, the more it helps the town in general, and that helps us. I really like the close community in Stroud. You don’t get that in big cities anymore.

Do you have any plans for the future?

We’re hoping to start a drum club from September. It will run once a month and there will be workshops and seminars and a discount for members of the club. We hope to get involved with lots of outside events and festivals.
