Rocky Horror in Remake for Telly

MTV and Sky Movies will do the time warp again - after signing up to remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

More than 30 years after the original film version they are teaming up with the film's executive producer, Lou Adler.

The cast and director for the new version of the camp classic are yet to be confirmed but Adler and Gail Berman will executive produce the project, using the screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien.

The 1975 movie starred Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, O'Brien, Barry Bostwick and Meatloaf. Adler said: "The Rocky Horror phenomenon has a life of its own that has been reincarnated in numerous ways.

"Our hope has always been that each new rebirth will extend the experience to new audiences and increase the fan base.

Sharman, who directed the original film, also felt the time is right for a new version. He said: "A remake could have its own very individual strengths and qualities."

Under the terms of the deal the film will have its UK premiere exclusively on Sky Movies. It will be shown on MTV in America.
