Who Screwdriver is Players’ Vital Prop

August 15, 2008

A Drama group’s time-travelling exploits can begin this weekend – after members got their hands on a vital prop.

Pontlliw Players launched an appeal in the Post last week for a Doctor Who-style sonic screwdriver.

Their latest show – A Musical Journey – sees sci-fi writer H G Wells taking a journey through the decades to look at musicals over the years.

Bob Edwards, who takes the lead role, said: “We had built the sets and designed costumes, but we couldn’t seem to find a sonic screwdriver anywhere. As the play is about time travel, we really needed the prop, which is seen in Doctor Who shows.”

But eagle-eyed workers at Swansea’s Asda store, in Morriston, read of the players’ dilemma and got in touch.

Mr Edwards said: “Everyone at Pontlliw Players is over the moon with the prop. Now we’ve got everything in place, we can’t wait for the show to begin.”

A Musical Journey will be performed at Pontlliw Village Hall, Pontlliw, at 6.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
