FILTHY garage rock’n'rollers DETROIT SOCIAL CLUB will be swaggering into the Arena in Middlesbrough tomorrow night.

The six-piece rockers who have been described as “the love-child of Beck and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club” will be playing the venue’s weekly Soundclash gig.

As the group’s songwriter, frontman David Burn (pictured right) is responsible for tying together their influences of New York’s vibrant 1970s punk scene with the Detroit Garage stage of the mid- 1990s.

It is these influences that have led to the band being likened to the Velvet Underground, Brian Jones Town Massacre, Gomez and, of course, the aforementioned Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Their live shows are quickly becoming the thing of legend and after only a handful of gigs the band find themselves courted by every big label around.

The Newcastle sextet are managed by Wildlife (Arctic Monkeys, Reverend And The Makers) and just about every industry insider is getting excited about the potential of Detroit Social Club.

Support band STONEDRIFTERS have recently launched their brand new EP This Is England.

The record was launched two weeks ago to coincide with the band’s appearance at the Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival when they were on the same Friday night bill as the Super Furry Animals.

The new tracks had been under wraps for a few weeks with only the odd one being played at selected gigs.

Gaz Ferguson, Stonedrifters’ frontman, said he was “very happy with the end product and was looking forward to playing the new stuff” firstly at the Fringe and gigs thereafter including the show at the Arena tomorrow.

Also on the bill are FALLEN PHOENIX.
