Cilla’s Back on the 60s Streets
THE streets of Liverpool came alive in an explosion of colour, music and dance for new music video, ‘Cilla Black’s TV’.
Coronation Street actress Nikki Sanderson, who also appears in Heartbeat, was dramatically transformed into a 1960′s Cilla for the shoot of pop singer Rob Ellis’s debut single.
Over 100 dancers and performers, including a marching band and an award winning cheer-leading squad took part in the musical extravaganza to celebrate Liverpool, its inhabitants, culture and city life.
The procession followed “Cilla” on her journey through the familiar streets of Liverpool in search of her “John Lennon” before a climactic dance routine on the steps of the World Museum Liverpool.
The artist Ellis says his first single is based on the tall stories of his father – a cheeky Scouser in 1960′s Liverpool. He said the only true story his dad actually told was of the times he fixed the TV set of Priscilla White and her mother.
A spokesman for Ellis said: “It is hoped that while celebrating the Capital of Culture, the song will provide an antidote to the current doom and gloom.”
