West End Musical is Ready to Rock Region
We Will Rock You comes to Bristol in 2009 with the show’s first UK tour. The city is one of five venues around the country to host the musical, scripted by Ben Elton and featuring 24 of Queen’s biggest hits.
And Echo readers will be able to be among the first to buy tickets for the show.
The Echo will run tokens from September 2 with tickets going on sale on September 4. Tickets do not go on general sale until September 15.
Queen guitarist Brian May said: “We are excited to be able to send a brand new top class company out on tour.
“The musical is set 300 years in the future, on a place once called Earth. Globalisation is complete.
“Everyone watches the same movies, wears the same clothes, and thinks the same thoughts. It’s a safe, happy Ga Ga world.
“The company computers generate the music and the kids download it. All musical instruments are banned. But resistance is growing.
“A hero is needed. Is the one who calls himself Galileo that man, and can he help them Break Free?”
The UK tour opens in Manchester in March before moving to Sunderland, Birmingham, Bristol and Edinburgh. It runs at the Bristol Hippodrome from September 16 to October 31, 2009.
