U.S. actress Valerie Bertinelli says has signed to star in a new sitcom for TBS about a single mom trying to run a business, the network says.
Bertinelli, a two-time Golden Globe Award winner, will star in the still-unnamed comedy from writer/executive producer Dave Caplan, who earlier created The Bill Engvall Show for TBS. Michael Wright, senior vice president in charge of the Content Creation Group for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies, said Caplan will serve as the new show's executive producer along with Original Film's Neal Moritz and Vivian Cannon.
"Valerie Bertinelli became a popular fixture on television playing one of two children being raised by a single working mother (on "One Day at a Time")," said Wright. "Now she's exploring that world from the opposite angle, playing a single working mother raising two children. Between Valerie's comic skills and Dave Caplan's highly relatable humor, we're very excited to watch this pilot take shape."
Bertinelli is also well-known for her work on the long-running drama series "Touched by an Angel" and most recently starred in Lifetime's "True Confessions of a Hollywood Starlet."
