Clive James Presents Top Festival Comedy Prize

WRITER and broadcaster Clive James is to be the presenter of this year’s Intelligent Finance Comedy Awards, it has been announced.

James, who is performing at the Assembly Rooms on George Street, will be joining fellow Australian and last year’s if.comedy winner Brendon Burns on stage at the Jam House on Saturday, August 23, to present the awards.

The prize of GBP 8000 is given for the most outstanding up-and- coming, funny, original comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The winner will also headline the Intelligent Finance Comedy Award shows in London.

The nominees for the 2008 Comedy Award are David O’Doherty, Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler, Rhod Gilbert and Russell Kane. The nominees for Best Newcomer are Mike Wozniak, Pippa Evans and Sarah Millican.

This year the awards have been judged by a mix of journalists, TV producers and members of the public.
