SCI-FI series Doctor Who could be heading for the big screen, its new boss revealed yesterday.

Writer Steven Moffat told the Edinburgh TV festival: “I would say yes, as long as it never gets in the way of the show.

“It would be great to see it at the cinema. It’s been there before, so it would be good to see it again.

“I don’t think it’s the most important thing for Doctor Who.

“A movie is 90 minutes – that’s not that different from making a single episode, so I’m not against it.”

Moffat, who launched his career in the 1980s writing children’s series Press Gang, confirmed that current Doctor David Tennant would quit the series but refused to give details about his exit.
