Shoot On Sight Takes on UK With a Massive Release

Shoot On Sight, the controversial political thriller, finally had its first theatrical release in UK, in 60 screens, on August 22, with a massive publicity, and great response from both mainstream British and ethnic Asian communities.

The initial release of the thriller, inspired by the events of July 7, 2005 London bombings, which killed 52 people on London's underground network, had been postponed out of respect for the victims' families and its proximity to the third anniversary of the terrible attacks.

The film starring Naseeruddin Shah, Brain Cox, Greta Scacchi, Om Puri, Gulshan Grover, Sadie Frost and Mikaal Zulfiqar, is a fictional story, about targeting a community and hence profiling an innocent Muslim who becomes the victim of a paranoid in the aftermath of 7/7, with its overzealous police force in face of standing orders to "Shoot On Sight" any suspected terrorists. Naseeruddin Shah is a senior Muslim police officer asked to lead the hunt for suspected suicide bombers. The film meticulously depicts how young impressionable minds are recruited in the name of jihad and khilafaa -- a global Muslim nation.

"I am happy to learn from the initial reports that the film is being received very well by the media and the public", said Mr. Aron Govil, film's producer, " It is so refreshing to see that there are audience and members of the media who like to see and appreciate an intelligent and entertaining film which is thought provoking and raises important questions about our society" Continued Mr. Govil.

Shoot On Sight directed by Jag Mundhra and John Altman's music will release in other markets, including India and USA on Sept 19.
