RGV Upsets Mallika

August 26, 2008

R K Laxman, who brought the common Indian crow out of the skies and into people’s homes through The Times of India, would disapprove of Ram Gopal Varma’s comparing his favourite bird to Bollywood hottie Mallika Sherawat.

But that is what the filmmaker did when asked in an interview what his film Phoonk had in answer to the same-day release Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam that has Ms Sherawat. “My film has a crow,” RGV cleverly replied.

Naturally, Mallika was not having any of Varma’s cheek. She is reported to have suggested in retaliation that henceforth he should only use crows in place of actresses in his films.

This, incidentally, is not the first run in the two have had. Earlier Mallika wanted to send him a legal notice because a scene in his film Contract had a police inspector talking suggestively to her photograph and getting aroused.
