Ralph Young of Sandler & Young Dies at 90

U.S. singer Ralph Young, one-half of the popular 1960s singing duo Sandler & Young, has died at age 90 in Palm Springs, Calif., his wife says.
Young's wife Arlene told The Los Angeles Times he died Friday after a brief illness.
Young, born in New York, teamed with Tony Sandler in 1965 after a successful earlier stint as a vocalist during the 1940s big band era with Les Brown's Band of Renown, the newspaper said. Sandler & Young recorded more than 20 albums and appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show,""The Tonight Show" and regularly headlined concert halls and nightclubs.
The duo's apex probably came in 1969 when they were tapped as hosts for "The Kraft Music Hall Presents Sandler & Young," a summer replacement show for NBC's "The Kraft Music Hall" program, Sandler told The Times.
"They were glorious years," Sandler said. "They were extremely successful years. We did every possible TV show; we did it all. There were ups and downs like in everything, but Ralph was my friend and a great singer, and I have the greatest admiration for him."
