All-Bach Concert on Tap at Gorham’s Chapel Arts
GORHAM, N.H. – The final concert in the summer’s Classical Series at Chapel Arts New England will focus on the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, a favorite of performers Susan Ferre and Charles Lang, who will appear at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31.
Having played a different all-Bach program earlier this summer in Randolph, the two will team up to play a program devoted to Bach’s music, using original instruments of the period, including a first hearing on the quite rare violoncello piccolo, in addition to several violas da gamba, harpsichord, a small portative organ and the newly-installed Bedient organ.
Ferre and Lang met 29 years ago playing this and similar music for the wedding of a mutual friend. They later married and have been admiring and playing the music of Bach ever since.
A special feature of the program will be audience participation, as several of the more familiar chorale tunes will be provided.
Chapel Arts New England is located across from the Town Common, at the intersection of Routes 2 and 16 south. The concert is open to the public free, with a suggested donation of $5 at the door.
