Just Try to Keep Up With Kardashian

“I’m no Meryl Streep.”

Reality show vixen Kim Kardashian knows that much, but she’s dabbling in film with Disaster Movie, out Friday.

Could she end up being a Ginger Rogers? We’ll soon find out. She hits the dance floor Sept. 22 on Dancing With the Stars (ABC, 8 p.m. ET/PT).

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” she says. “I’m so thankful they asked me. Obviously, this is a completely different fan base than I’m used to.”

That would be different from her E! reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which will include her Dancing gig in Season 3 (now filming for broadcast early next year).

But Kardashian, 27, is not likely to start specializing anytime soon. She’s part of the young Hollywood that is all about brand building — in as many ways as possible.

The daughter of the late celebrity criminal lawyer Robert Kardashian got her start as a stylist, then branched into reality TV.

Since then, she has acquired many accoutrements of fame. In addition to the movie and Dancing, she has performed with the Pussycat Dolls, is developing a fragrance (in time for Mother’s Day), has a famous boyfriend (New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush) and a famous body part (a backside said to rival J. Lo’s in popularity).

But “fashion is our No. 1 thing,” she says, referring to her sisters, Kourtney, 29, and Khloe, 24, with whom she owns and operates two clothing boutiques, Dash and Smooch, both in Calabasas, Calif.

Her schedule isn’t accidental — but it’s not all purely about self-promotion, she says.

“I made a promise to myself that this year I would try things that were kind of outside of my box, to make me grow. … (But) at the end of the day, I just want to have fun.” (c) Copyright 2008 USA TODAY, a division of Gannett Co. Inc. <>
