Boston Film Festival Back – in Cambridge

August 28, 2008

By JAMES VERNIERE

Skeptics probably expected the Boston Film Festival to run aground after last year. But the Festival (Sept. 12-17) is ba-a- ack, although it will move from AMC Boston Common to the considerably less accessible Landmark Kendall Square Cinema in . . . Cambridge.

The opening night feature is Ed Harris’ “Appaloosa,” a high- powered Western co-starring Harris, Viggo Mortensen, Jeremy Irons and Renee Zellweger. And the closing night is “Flash of Genius” with Greg Kinnear as the inventor of the intermittent windshield wiper (no, really).

This year’s BFF award will go to local author and Spenser- creator Robert B. Parker, whose 2005 book “Appaloosa” was adapted for the big screen.
