Cillian’s Salute to Brit Army
By EDDIE FITZMAURICE
CILLIAN Murphy spent most of his time taking pot shots at the British in the movie The Wind That Shakes The Barley.
But now the Cork-born actor has admitted a sneaking admiration for the stiff-upper-lipped types of the British army.
Cillian, 32, who plays a young officer in his latest movie The Edge of Love, said: “Wearing the British army uniform does make you stand tall. What these men did was quite remarkable.”
The Edge Of Love is the story of the love triangle between Welsh poet Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys), nightclub singer Vera Phillips (Keira Knightly) and Murphy’s officer.
“I’m an Irishman, and a very proud Irishman, so you have to get over that,” Cillian said.
“I live in England and I have loads of English friends, but there is that part of who we are, that thing about England and Ireland, it’s in our blood.”
