THE son of Wales’ first billionaire is starring in a B-movie horror alongside Nightmare on Elm Street villain Freddie Krueger.

Trevor Matthews, son of computer tycoon Sir Terry Matthews, plays the lead role in B-movie comedy horror, Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer, which comes out on DVD next month.

The Ottawa-raised 26-year-old who considers himself “100%Welsh” features alongside Robert Englund, most famous for his role as horror serial-killer Freddie Krueger.

The film has been made by Trevor’s own movie company, Brookstreet Pictures, which has its own Welsh roots.

He said: “My company Brookstreet Pictures is named after Brook Street near Newbridge where my dad’s mumand grandmother were brought up.

“My dad also built a hotel called the BrookStreet hotel. A lot of his companies have some resemblance to Welsh villages and places.

“I started making a number of short films to build up some credibility and to learn the ropes.

“We thought it would be fun to try our first feature film as it would give us some great experience. My main influence is Peter Jackson.”

The film is based on a plumber, Jack Brooks, who after witnessing the brutal murder of his family, is left with an unquenchable fury and emotions he is constantly trying to keep under control.

Trevor added: “We are actually developing a sequel and thinking of potentially shooting some scenes in Wales although we are not quite sure yet.

“We’ll definitely have an office in Wales at some point.”
