Hannibal Pictures and Continental Entertainment Capital (“CEC”) Announce the First Time Collaboration of Russell Mulcahy, Thomas Jane and Ving Rhames
Russell Mulcahy has signed on to direct the action film “Give ‘em Hell, Malone,” starring Thomas Jane as the title character and Ving Rhames as his rival, “Boulder.” Malone, tough private eye, takes a job retrieving a case containing a mysterious secret. Bullets, fists, and blood fly as he fights through an army of thugs to protect the secret.
The film, from a screenplay by Mark Hosack, will be produced by Richard Rionda Del Castro (“Giallo,”"Crime Spree”), along with Richard Salvatore (“My Mom’s New Boyfriend”), and his partner Johnny Martin, who brought the project along to fruition and will oversee production for Hannibal Pictures. Cam Cannon and Hayley Magourik from Hannibal Pictures are supervising production. Martin Barab, Oscar Generale, and Armand Speca will executive produce with Walter Josten and Jeffrey Geoffray of Blue Rider Pictures.
Hannibal Pictures will act as the worldwide sales agent for the film and William Morris Independent is co-representing with Hannibal for US rights.
North By Northwest, represented by Richard Cowan, will handle production services, with CEC’s Managing Director D. Jeffrey Andrick structuring the co-financing. “Give ‘em Hell, Malone” is set to go into production in Spokane, Washington on October 6, 2008, and will be delivered in Summer 2009.
Thomas Jane, known for his acclaimed performance in “Stander,” starred most recently in “The Mist,”"The Punisher,” and “Dreamcatcher.” He just wrapped production on “The Mutant Chronicles” and is in post-production on “A Dark Country 3-D,” which he also directed. Rhames is known for his stirring performance in “Pulp Fiction,” and as Luther, the expert hacker in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. He stars opposite Bruce Willis in Disney’s upcoming “The Surrogates” directed by Jonathan Mostow, and stars in Paramount’s upcoming “The Goods,” with Jeremy Piven and Will Ferrell.
Russell Mulcahy most recently directed “The Scorpion King 2: The Rise of a Warrior” for Universal Pictures and the hit “Resident Evil: Extinction” for Sony Screen Gems. His credits also include the cult classic “Highlander.”
Mulcahy is repped by manager Armand Speca, agent David Saunders of APA, and attorneys Erik Hyman and Craig Emanuel of Loeb & Loeb. Reps for Thomas Jane in the deal are agents Cassian Elwes of William Morris, and Matt DelPiano of CAA. Ving Rhames is repped by Steve Muller of Innovative Artists. Attorney Martin Barab of Hamrick & Evans is repping Hannibal Pictures.
