‘The Real Great Debaters’ Documentary Reception This Week

WHAT: Full-service law firm Day Pitney LLP Teams with the United Negro College Fund and Full Circle NY to host the reception for ‘The Real Great Debaters’ Documentary Premiere.
Following the reception, the documentary film will make its world premiere at The Urbanworld Film Festival in New York City. The Festival is one of the world’s largest competitive film festivals designed to enhance the roles of multicultural constituents in contemporary cinema.
WHEN: September 11, 2008 at 5 p.m. at a Times Square, New York location.
WHO: Attending the reception will be Dr. Haywood L. Strickland, President of Wiley College and AMS Pictures, along with UNCF, Day Pitney and Full Circle NY representatives.

WHAT: “The Real Great Debaters of Wiley College,” a documentary film produced by AMS Pictures. The film follows the journey of the 1935 debate team from Wiley College, a small black college deep in the rural Jim Crow South, to its upset of the all-white reigning national championship debate team at the University of Southern California. Wiley College was made famous in the highly-acclaimed 2007 theatrical release, “The Great Debaters” starring Denzel Washington.
