Newport Media Signs Qualcomm Software License Agreement for MediaFLO Service Layer

Newport Media, an innovative fabless semiconductor company supplying products to the mobile broadcast market, announced a commercial software license agreement with Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq:QCOM). Under the terms of the agreement, Newport Media will license Qualcomm's MediaFLO(TM) service layer client software, enabling Newport Media to integrate the software into its FLO(TM) application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) and protocol stack for MediaFLO device manufacturers. In September of 2006 Newport Media and Qualcomm had previously entered into a patent agreement covering Newport Media's ASICs.
