Torchwood Stars Ready to Grapple With Fresh Plots
TORCHWOOD star John Barrowman gets to grips with being back in character as filming for the hit show’s new series continued.
And it looked like the actor-singer, 41, promised to have a more hands-on role as he joked about with co-star Eve Myles while they filmed in Cardiff Bay’s Oval Basin yesterday.
Swansea Valley-born Eve, 29, who plays Gwen Cooper in the BBC show, said they were enjoying being be back in the capital. She said: “It’s exciting to be filming again in Cardiff.”
The third series of the Doctor Who spin-off, called Children of Earth, will have five episodes. It will star the show’s regular cast members, including John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, as well as Eve as feisty Gwen.
The BBC has also now revealed there will be special guest appearances from familiar faces including Peter Capaldi, who has previously appeared in The Thick Of It and Doctor Who. In Torchwood, he will play a civil servant, Mr Frobisher, who hides “a terrible secret”.
Series three will also feature Paul Copley, who has previously starred in Coronation Street and The Bill, as well as Bad Girls actress Liz May Brice, who will play a cynical covert government agent determined to expose Torchwood.
The show will be aired at 9pm on BBC1 on five consecutive nights next spring.
