Infinity Feature Films Partners With Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Productions to Produce Caletti’s Nine Mile Falls

Infinity Features, a Vancouver-based production company, has today announced a partnership with Paul G. Allen's Vulcan Productions to co-produce Deb Caletti's young adult novels as a series of films titled Nine Mile Falls. Rob Merilees is producing on behalf of Infinity Features, Paul G. Allen, Jody Patton and Richard Hutton are executive producing and Michael Caldwell is producing on behalf of Vulcan Productions.

The five novels, which include National Book Award finalist Honey, Baby, Sweetheart; Queen of Everything; Wild Roses; The Nature of Jade; and The Fortunes of Indigo Sky, tell the stories of 16-18 year old girls from unique, provocative perspectives.

"There is a point in life where the issues girls deal with start becoming very grown up, when decisions have permanent effects," said Deb Caletti, award-winning author of the series. "I'm so passionate about these kinds of stories and am thrilled that they are to become films."

"Smart, perceptive and tough - while each story and each of Deb's characters is completely unique, those qualities are what tie the novels together," added Rob Merilees, producer at Infinity.

"Our main goal is to keep the films as honest and vibrant as Deb's novels," said Richard Hutton, vice president of media development for Vulcan Productions. "Vulcan and Infinity share that same vision in bringing the novels to life."

Infinity's most recent feature film, Stone of Destiny, premieres on the final night of the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 13, 2008. Vulcan's most recent feature film, Where God Left His Shoes, starring John Leguizamo, will be released by IFC in December 2008
