Calif. Teen Becomes Overnight Celebrity

September 11, 2008

FRESNO, Calif. Stan Carrizosa woke up Tuesday morning to a glitzy new world as a celebrity. The 17-year-old student was greeted at his school, El Diamante High in Visalia, Calif., with a big sign with just one word: Congratulations! Then, he went to his first class, chamber choir, where the marker board had three words: We love you! Thats what happened after Stan won the ABC reality show High School Musical: Get in the Picture on Monday night. It was crazy at school, he says. I was completely a celebrity. The network taped a couple of endings so Stan didnt know he won until he watched it with everyone else Monday night. In fact, Stan said East Coast viewers knew the outcome three hours ahead of him, but he refused to take any calls from people he knew on the other side of the country. I wanted to watch with my family, he said. He saw the show with about 200 family members and friends at Amigos Restaurant and Cantina in Visalia. It was shown there on big screens and monitors. When the shows host, Nick Lachey, said, The newest member of the high school musical family is … Stan, Amigos went crazy.
