Add 9/11 Thoughts to BYU Memorial

September 13, 2008

PROVO — Add your impressions of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and its ongoing consequences to artist Frank McEntire’s participatory “Spontaneous Memorial” on display at Brigham Young University’s Harold B. Lee Library auditorium gallery until Oct. 3.

The memorial allows visitors to write their own thoughts, which become a permanent part of the exhibit.

Impressions are written on one of 3,000 tags, 2,000 of which contain a life sketch of a 9/11 victim. The life sketches are taken from the New York Times project, “Portraits of Grief.”

For additional information, contact library communications manager Roger Layton at (801) 422-6687 or roger_layton@byu.edu or artist Frank McEntire at (801) 422-8084 or frank_mcentire@byu.edu.
