Teleste Launches Headend Hosting Service for Cable TV Operators
Posted on: Monday, 15 September 2008, 03:00 CDT
Teleste, the market leader in broadband cable networks, today announced that it has started headend hosting services i.e. providing headend functionality to cable TV operators as a service. Teleste also announced that a group of Spanish cable television operators have already started using the company's hosted encryption services. With the announcement, Teleste extends its portfolio from equipment, software and professional services to also include hosting services.
The hosting service is set up so that Teleste operates the physical headend equipment and provides customers the functionality they need as a service. Customers pay only a monthly fee based on the number of subscribers they have and do not need to purchase equipment themselves.
"Low initial setup costs make hosted services an ideal solution for small and medium sized operators. Hosting services also enable operators of all sizes to quickly set up new services as the system can be put into operation in less than two weeks", says Teleste's Petri Viitala, Director, Customer Support Services.
First customers for Teleste's hosted services are a group of Spanish CATV operators, who are using encryption as a hosted service. Hosted encryption enables the operators to offer pay-TV services to end-users without having to buy equipment themselves. The small and medium sized operators have client bases from 1 000 to 20 000 subscribers making the total number of potential end-users in Spain over one million.
"Encryption gives operators access to a wider variety and more interactive content, something that all subscribers appreciate. Teleste's hosted encryption service provides operators with an innovative, professional and care-free solution for protecting their content and controlling their subscriber base and revenue," Viitala continues.
Teleste has a long experience in encryption and other network technologies. With the hosted services, Teleste brings this knowhow to operators so that they can concentrate on their core business and customers. Teleste helps and supports the operators in all problem situations. Teleste's local presence and support are key elements that make the hosting service a success.
