The Sun Kings, unplugged. Enjoy music performed acoustically by three members of Northern California Beatles tribute band, the Sun Kings. Systems of Sharing: On the Surface, California Society of Printmakers 95th annual membership exhibition, part one, will be at the Olive Hyde Art Gallery through Oct. 4. Ohlone College’s Louie-Meager Art Gallery at the Gary Soren Smith Center for the Fine and Performing Arts is showing “Botanicals & Landscapes,” an exhibit of large-scale botanical drawings and traditional contemporary California landscapes by Bay Area art educators and Ohlone students. The show runs until Sept. 24.

Roving Artists Showcase of watercolor paintings can be seen at Mission Coffee Roasting Company, 151 Washington Blvd., Fremont, Oct. 1-31. Opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Oct. 5. A juried photography exhibit sponsored by the Fremont Cultural Arts Council will be displayed during regular library hours Nov. 9 through Dec. 5 in the Fremont Main Library’s main first-floor reading area. Stage 1 Theatre presents “Sugar,” a musical based on the film “Some Like It Hot.” Two down-on-their-luck musicians witness the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago. The mob wants to rub them out, so to hide, they disguise themselves as female musicians and join an all-girl band headed for Florida. It’s non- stop laughs, music, dancing and wonderful songs. “Sugar” will be performed at Newark Memorial High School Theatre, 39375 Cedar Blvd. Performance times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $25 general admission at the door, $22 for advance purchase and for seniors, $12 for students (high school and younger), or $18 for a group of 12 or more for the same performance. Newark Memorial High School Performing Arts Department presents the moving and powerful Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “Rent,” at the Newark Memorial Theatre, 39375 Cedar Blvd. The play is Jonathan Larson’s rock musical retelling of the “La Boheme” story, but relocated to AIDS-era East Village, N.Y. Characters include a penniless songwriter, a punk rocker, an AID’s-infected dancer at an S&M nightclub, and an aspiring filmmaker. The ending is transformed from the opera, but the theme of love striving to endure all obstacles remains the same. Songs include “Seasons of Love,”"Without You,”"Out Tonight,”"One Song Glory,”"I’ll Cover You” and “Santa Fe.” Performances are at 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22.
