Senior North Korean Officials Attend 11th Pyongyang International Film Festival

Pyongyang, September 17 (KCNA) – The 11th Pyongyang International Film Festival was opened with due ceremony at the Pyongyang International Cinema House on Wednesday.
Present there were Yang Hyong-sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Ro Tu-chol, vice- premier of the Cabinet, officials concerned, creators and artistes in the field of movie industry, working people in the city, delegations, delegates and honorary guests of different countries including the DPRK [Democratic People's Republic of Korea] and international jury members.
Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys of various countries and staff members of their embassies and missions of international organizations here.
Kang Nung-su, minister of culture who is chairman of the organizing committee of the festival, in his opening address referred to the fact that the Pyongyang International Film Festival has made steady progress, boosting the bonds of cooperation and friendship among countries and peoples in the movie field and promoting the sound development of movies in the world. He wished the participants in the festival successes in their activities.
A congratulatory speech was made by British delegate Derek Elley.
International jury members of the festival were introduced there.
Also introduced were full-length, documentary and short films contributed to the festival and the films to be specially screened. The organizing committee of the festival hosted a reception in honour of the participants in the festival at Yanggakdo International Hotel this evening.
