Comedy for All the Family

September 18, 2008

A great piece of family theatre comes to The Flavel.

All the family will be entertained by a very special theatre/ comedy show at The Flavel on Saturday. Howard Read is a British comedian best known for his work with his animated cartoon sidekick, Little Howard.

Little Howard is a six year-old ‘standing-up comedian’ who generally appears on a laptop or projection screen, interacting with Big Howard, the audience or other animated characters.

The character of Little Howard first appeared at the end of Howard Read’s 2002 one-man show and was such an instant success that the following year Read built his whole show around Little Howard.

The show has been nominated for a Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2003, and appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2005.

Howard Read is also known for his on-stage ‘Guess Who?’ act where the audience guesses who he has drawn on a large pad of paper. He has also appeared in the ITV Royal Variety performance in 2007.

In this second epic family show, Little Howard and the Pencil of Doom, Little Howard finally meets his maker – The Pencil of Creation. But with great power comes great responsibility, and on the other end of the Pencil he finds the Rubber of Doom.

The show has been described as ‘really clever stuff, incredibly well put together – it’s funny too’ by Fest.

The show is suitable for five year olds and upwards. Tickets cost pounds9.50 for adults, pounds6.50 for children, family tickets pounds25. To book phone The Flavel, Dartmouth on 01803 839530 or visit www.theflavel.org.uk
