Horn Lake’s first Bullfrogs and Bluegrass Festival is set for Saturday at the Audubon Point RV park off U.S. 51.

The festival gates open at 11 a.m. and the event runs until 8 p.m.

“It’s a free festival and it’s part of the Mississippi Music Heritage Series,” said Larry Witherspoon, executive director of the Horn Lake area Chamber of Commerce.

The festival will have food, music, arts and crafts, a karaoke contest, horseshoes and dancing.

It features three bands – Gone South, playing from 11 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5 p.m.; Single Tree, from noon to 1p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m.; and Deep Hollow, from 1 to 2 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.

The karaoke contest is scheduled for 3 to 4 p.m.

There is a covered area for eating and a covered dance floor.

No admission will be charged and parking on the grounds is also free.

“Those attending should bring lawn chairs or blankets, but no coolers will be allowed,” Witherspoon said.

Harrah’s Entertainment is the primary corporate sponsor.

Other corporate sponsors are Bank Plus, Great River Distributors (Miller and Coors beer), DeSoto Civic Center, American RV and The DeSoto Appeal.
