Ex-Ender Daniels Dances Off Strictly
By LAURA MAY
FORMER EastEnder Phil Daniels has become the first celebrity to sashay out of the competition in BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Daniels and his partner Flavia Cacace were voted off the reality dance show after their performance of a waltz.
The judges gave them just 20 points and the viewers' votes failed to save them from making the bottom two in the league table of couples.
They faced a dance-off with Rising Damp star Don Warrington and professional partner Lilia Kopylova.
Daniels played Jimmy in the cult film Quadrophenia but is perhaps best known to younger audiences as EastEnder Kevin Wicks.
Wicks came to a sticky end last year in a car crash.
Cacace narrowly missed out on the Strictly crown in the last series when she danced with Matt De Angelo - who played Daniel's EastEnders step-son Deano.
Judge Arlene Phillips said of their performance: "You need to introduce your right foot to your left foot and they need to fall in love, because they never came together. Bring them together occasionally."
Bruno Tonioli said: "For a bit of rough you actually scrub up quite well. It was a bit shaky and unsteady. You held your breath - you looked like you were going for a dive."
The judges gave them a total of 20 out of 40 for their performance Daniels said after the vote: "It was a short ride. It's been fantastic, good fun."
The female contestants were given immunity from elimination after performing a group dance to Lady Marmalade.
Next week they will compete to stay in the competition whilst the men perform a group number but are safe from elimination for another week.
