People – McCains to Dish on ‘Rachael Ray’

September 22, 2008

It’s not politics as usual on an upcoming episode of “The Rachael Ray Show,” when Republican presidential nominee John McCain and his wife, Cindy, will take over Rachael’s kitchen with their top-secret ribs recipe.

On Monday’s show, the McCains will discuss life on the campaign trail, GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and their favorite TV shows.

“My hero is Jack Bauer of ’24′,” said McCain of the character played by Keifer Sutherland on the Fox show. “You know I guess it’s coming back on. Jack Bauer, you know he always escapes, and I never escape.”

Cindy McCain is a fan of the Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch,” which follows the crews of crab fishing boats in Alaska’s Bering Sea, and she is excited about the possibility of meeting the cast.

“I’m so glad though that Sarah Palin is on the ticket for this reason. I’m a huge ‘Deadliest Catch’ fan and they (Sarah and Todd Palin ) know them. I can’t wait, I want to meet the ‘Deadliest Catch’ guys.”

The “Rachael Ray Show” airs at 11 a.m. on WMC-TV Channel 5.

Oprah to guest star on “30 Rock”

Whether or not “30 Rock” cleans up again at Sunday’s Emmy Awards, the NBC sitcom already has acquired a magnificent feather for its chapeau: Oprah Winfrey will guest-star on the Nov. 6 episode.

The chat queen filmed her role last week on a closed set. Oprah pal Gayle King , who attended, declared that O’s performance was “hilarious.

Tina Fey , creator and star of “30 Rock,” concurred.

“Oprah is very funny in the episode, and we are beyond grateful to have her,” she said.

Katie is ‘extraordinary,’ says Tom

Katie Holmes made her Broadway debut in “All My Sons,” and her husband, Tom Cruise , thought it was a knockout.

When asked for his verdict on Holmes’ performance, Cruise stopped for a moment as he moved through the crowd at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre Thursday night, telling The Associated Press: “Did you see it? … It was extraordinary.”

Hundreds of people bought tickets to see Holmes act on Broadway for the first time in a preview performance for the revival of the 1947 Arthur Miller drama “All My Sons,” co-starring John Lithgow , Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson .
