Best Of Balerno Music Festival

1 EVENING CONCERT WITH CONSORTIUM5: An evening not to be missed. This is recorder music as you've never heard it. To get a taste, try listening to www.consortium5.com/listen.html where you can hear this vibrant and exciting music. Consortium5 will display the wealth, colour and diversity of music that the recorder either "owns" or has claimed and appropriated for this performance on an impressive range of baroque, modern and renaissance instruments. They perform a repertoire spanning over 700 years. This would include works by Dowland, Byrd, Vivaldi and Bach. 6-7:30pm, Friday 3 October, Balerno Parish Church, GBP 7.50
2 CONCERT OF ICONIC AMERICAN WORKS: Auricle Ensemble under Chris Swaffer (Musical Director) with The Pentland Singers Fast becoming one of the UK's most versatile young groups, the Auricle Ensemble presents a concert of iconic American works, with Copland's jazz infused Clarinet Concerto alongside the original version of Appalachian Spring. The concert will include a performance by the Pentland Singers in what is sure to be an exhilarating evening. Music: Copland - Music for Theatre; Ives - Unanswered Question; Copland - Appalachian Spring. Pentland Singers' works to include: Thompson - Two Movements from Frostiana, Copland - Clarinet Concerto. 7:30-9:30pm, Saturday 4 October, Balerno Parish Church, GBP 10
3 HERIOT-WATT UNIVERSITY CHOIR Heriot-Watt University's choir and scholars' vocal group perform together in an unmissable choral concert. The fresh, young voices sing with an infectious enjoyment and enthusiasm. The concert includes a huge variety of music. 7:30- 8:30pm, Sunday 4 October, Balerno Parish Church, GBP 7.50
