Crocodile Tears As Will Says Farewell

September 25, 2008

By Steve Johnson

CROC-crazy schoolboy Will Rennison has waved farewell to his friends at Dudley Zoo before setting off for a new life in Australia.

It was a special moment for head of reptiles Graham Chilton as he handed over a much-prized possession to 13-year-old Will, from Tettenhall, Wolverhampton.

For the past four years Will has taken part in the Junior Zoo Keeper scheme, which has inspired him to study animal care and management when he leaves school.

Graham said: “Will is an amazing lad – he’s so confident with the crocs. We’ll all miss him.”

Staff presented Will with a poster to mark his Keeper Days at the zoo, and Graham handed over his prized copy of Life in Cold Blood, a David Attenborough book on reptiles signed by the author.

Will, along with parents, Sarah and Steve and sister Izzy, visited the Reptile House for the last time before their journey to begin a new life in Perth.
