Cordova Pianist Earns Five Year National Award

Stephanie Haynes, 14-year-old daughter of Elbert and Linda Haynes of Cordova, earned the Five Year National Award from the National Guild of Piano Teachers.

Stephanie performed 10 memorized pieces each year for five years in Germantown’s Piano Guild Auditions where she earned Superior ratings. She received the Guild’s Five Year pin and a porcelain bust of Beethoven from her teacher, Benita Pepper of Lakeland.

Stephanie played clarinet in her school band and was active in the Drama Club, prior to entering the ninth grade this fall at Cordova High School. She received a citizenship award and also the Presidential Award for Educational Academic Excellence. She has performed in five piano recitals with Pepper.

Her athletic interests include volleyball and swimming. Stephanie is an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She plans to attend college to prepare for a career in a technical field after high school.
