Elite Military Contingent Travels to the Past — Strike at the Heart: The First Mission

GARDEN GROVE, Calif., Sept. 29, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Xlbris is proud to announce the release of author L.W. Berrie's award-winning novel, Strike at the Heart. Acclaimed film-worthy at the 2006 Hollywood Book Fair and winner of 2007 London Book Festival, this book is guaranteed to keep you entertained from the first page until the very end.

Strike at the Heart is set in Kenya in the year 2002. Nairobi had fallen into the hands of Abu Simba, a gang of terrorists who had attacked Kenya's capital with a mysterious biological agent -- killing thousands. Now the terrorists, armed with Stinger surface-to-air missiles, threaten to shoot down any aircraft that attempt to land. Captain John Harris is ordered to escort a convoy of ten-ton trucks carrying medical supplies from the port of Mombasa inland to Nairobi and deploy his special forces A team to seize Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and open it to traffic. After traveling two hundred thirty miles from Mombasa, Harris and his troop encounter an unexplained phenomenon. A mile-wide funnel is coming right at them -- fast. Africa didn't have tornadoes... So what in the world is that thing? Will the special forces team members even reach their destination soon enough to complete their mission? Will they ever make it out of Africa alive?

Readers will meet Nomi, an African princess who lives in the year 4000 BC. She dreams of a big, strong warrior rescuing her from their hated enemy, the Masai. However when her father has dreams about her and the tribal shaman and says that she must marry the warrior from the North who defeated the Masai and leave her tribe or her people will die, she learns how hard it can be to live dreams.

Find out how fate brings together two different destinies in a land as harsh as it can be pristine. Log on to or visit your local bookstore today. Strike at the Heart has also won the Science Fiction Category at New York Book Festival 2007 and the Genre Based Category at the DIY Book Festival in Hollywood 2007. This book is highly-recommended to everyone.
