David Anderman Named General Counsel at Lucasfilm Ltd.

David J. Anderman has been named General Counsel for Lucasfilm Ltd., becoming the company’s senior legal officer, it was announced today by Lucasfilm Vice President Howard Roffman.

Anderman has been a key member of Lucasfilm’s legal team since joining the company in 1998, and will now oversee all business affairs and legal issues for the privately held, fully integrated entertainment company, which produces films and television programs in addition to operating global licensing, visual effects and videogame businesses.

Anderman joined Lucasfilm as Associate Director of Business Affairs, and was named Director of Corporate Business Affairs in 2001. In 2005, he was promoted to Senior Director of Business Affairs. Since joining Lucasfilm, he has overseen legal matters related to production and distribution of films and television, as well as negotiated worldwide merchandising and promotional licenses, technology transactions, online ventures and real estate development deals.

“David’s great contributions to Lucasfilm over the past 10 years have made it clear that he is the ideal person to guide our legal and business affairs needs,” said Roffman, to whom Anderman will continue to report.

Anderman began his legal career as an intellectual-property litigator in the Silicon Valley office of Brown & Bain, before joining the office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. He received his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to his duties at Lucasfilm, Anderman frequently lectures on intellectual property, licensing, film piracy and other entertainment-industry legal issues. He also serves on the Board of Advisers of the Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal.
