Robin Williams in Royal Gala

COMEDY The actor Robin Williams is to return to the British stage in November after a 25-year absence. He will appear alongside John Cleese and Rowan Atkinson in a gala performance celebrating the Prince of Wales's 60th birthday. The comedy night at New Wimbledon Theatre, south-west London, will alsofeature fresh young acts from the stand-up circuit, its organisers say, with the full line-up to be announced in the run-up to the 2 November show. It will be attended by Prince Charles - long known to be a keen fan of comedy - and the Duchess of Cornwall. The televised event is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for youth charity The Prince's Trust. Monty Python star Cleese has promised something "extra special" as his contribution. Atkinson who is preparing to play Fagin in a West End production of Oliver!, last went on a live tour in 1991.
