Ryan Helps to Make Festival a Roaring Success

October 1, 2008

ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD Ryan McGuinness from St Ninian’s Primary School was among pupils helping create an Asiatic lion sculpture at Edinburgh Zoo for this weekend’s parade to mark the Hindu festival of Dusshera.

The zoo’s education department welcomed more than 250 youngsters from local schools to join in activities centred on the 5000-year- old festival, which celebrates the victory of good over evil.

The parade takes place on Sunday, setting off from the Castle Esplanade at 4.30pm and going down the Royal Mile and up to Calton Hill.
