SEATTLE, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The landscape of the American Southwest becomes a portal to wonder, beauty and mystery in Living Temples, a groundbreaking high definition program by Emmy Award-winning director Jan Nickman.
The debut release for Seattle-based production company ThirdPlanet, Living Temples takes the viewer on an intimate journey of mind and spirit throughout the Southwest. The 45-minute program's primary narrative is an original music score by Grammy nominated recording artist David Lanz. World-renowned flutist Gary Stroutsos also offers his musical talents. Academy Award-winning actress Linda Hunt delivers poignant spoken words and the finale features a hypnotic dance performance by Caroline Richardson, former First Soloist with the National Ballet of Canada. Nickman, whose other credits include double platinum sellers The Minds Eye and Natural States, challenges us to ask ourselves, "what is truly a sacred place, can it help heal us, and what are our responsibilities to these places?"
"There is a lot of great work being done to highlight the problems facing our planet and plans being made to correct those problems," says Nickman. "However, we feel that an important step is to first heal ourselves. Immersion in the natural world can help with this and Living Temples is an immersive experience, allowing the viewer to see, feel and deeply connect with the natural world. We've aspired to reach more than just the viewer's eyes and ears. Wishing to go beyond mere intellectual understanding, we set out to evoke emotions that touch hearts and souls, allowing for a true inner experience of these sacred places."
Living Temples is available through traditional video and gift retailers and at thirdplanetproductions.com. Suggested retail price for the standard definition DVD is $19.95 and $24.95 for Blu-ray. Special features include a looped version of the program, and audio options for music only or spoken word and music together. Interviews with the director and musicians are included. A companion audio CD and piano music of the soundtrack are also available for purchase.
"Healing the Planet requires a change in how we look at the world and our interaction with it," said ThirdPlanet Productions founder, Mark Vrieling. "We must get ourselves back to a sustainable relationship where humanity can coexist in harmony with the planet. Our mission at ThirdPlanet is to produce quality programming that speaks to this message of 'life in balance.'"
