Actress Siobhan Keeps Smiling in Manilow Musical

Siobhan Dillon was seven when Chesney Hawkes rocketed to pop stardom with The One And Only.

So to find herself on stage with Chesney playing her leading man 17 years later is taking some getting used to.

But when the pair arrive at Hull New Theatre next Monday in Can't Smile Without You, a new musical based around the songs of Barry Manilow, the romantic chemistry between the two should be well and truly coming to the boil.

"It's bizarre really," says the 24-year-old. "I remember Chesney when he was first on Top Of The Pops, so to actually be in a show with him is slightly surreal.

"I'll admit that when I met him I was a bit nervous and star- struck but he's so personable and down-to-earth that it doesn't last that long. We're having a right laugh together now.

"He's actually the perfect leading man, he's got great personality, a great voice, and he really knows how to work an audience. I'm learning a lot from him about stage craft."
