Musicians Perform Fundraiser

October 3, 2008

By Journal Staff Report

New Mexico performer and Western Music Association Youth Chapter president Jim Jones and the acclaimed young music group JUBALation will perform Saturday, Oct. 4, at a fundraising concert to benefit the Youth Chapter.

The WMA’s youth programs encourage young people in the performance and creation of western music.

The event also will feature a silent auction of items including works of popular New Mexico artists Darryl Willison and Gary Roller.

JUBALation has received standing ovations at events across the Southwest, including Colorado’s Pavilion Bluegrass Festival and New Mexico’s Lincoln County Cowboy Symposium and the Albuquerque Folk Festival.

“These five girls sing and play fiddle, banjo, dobro, harp and guitar like you wouldn’t believe,” Jones said “If you like cowboy, bluegrass, Celtic or gospel music you’ll really get your money’s worth at this show.”

Jones was just named 2008 Western Male Vocalist of the Year and received the Will Rogers Award from the Academy of Western Artists.

The concert will be from 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Nahalat Shalom Congregation Center, 3606 Rio Grande NW, just south of Griegos. Suggested minimum donation at the door is $10.
