Whether it’s the biggest Frederick’s of Hollywood party in town or the ultimate cult film, the annual late-night showing of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” at Mesker Amphitheatre is back.
Time to get out the nerdy glasses and fishnet stockings and become part of the audience participation by repeating or ad- libbing the script.
About 2,000 Rockyphiles – from college students to veterans of midnight showings long ago at the Washington Avenue Ross Cinema – are expected Friday at Mesker for the 11 p.m. event.
Doors open at 9:30 p.m., and there will be a costume contest. Categories range from “We’re Not in Kansas Anymore” to “Hottest Things Since Fire,” and judges will be looking for the fishnet king and queen.
The 1975 film starred Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon as a couple who become stranded on a stormy night at a castle whose chief occupant is Dr. Frank N. Furter.
Tickets are $5 in advance at the box offices at Roberts Stadium and The Centre, at Ticketmaster outlets and Schnucks.
Admission will be $7 at the gate Friday night.
You also can charge tickets online at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 423-7222 in Indiana or (270) 926-6661 in Kentucky.
At the theater, $3 “survival kits” will be sold, containing birdseed, newspaper, water pistols, rubber gloves, confetti, toilet paper, toast and playing cards.
