Tonight Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia rocks hard with Seether, Stained and Papa Roach (6:30 p.m. doors).

The Duke Ellington Jazz Festival continues with dates all around town including a monstrous gathering of jazz giants including Cuban maestro Paquito D’rivera, Christian McBride and the Duke Ellington Orchestra, among others at the Lincoln Theatre in the Nation’s Capital (7 p.m.).

And speaking of jazz giants, Tuck & Patti perform their new release of jazz standards tonight at the historic Avalon Theatre in Easton (8 p.m.).

Rams Head On Stage in Annapolis begins their Saturday with two command performances by Ralph’s World, the Disney-centric kids carnival of sound (11 a.m. and 3 p.m. shows). Led by Ralph Covert of the Chicago rock band The Bad Examples, rocks the house with hits from “Green Gorilla, Monster and Me!,” which was nominated for Best Musical Album for Children at the 48th Grammy Awards. Then, for the evening performance it’s The Bird & The Bee featuring Inara George and Greg Kurstin combining jazz standards, Brazillian tropicalia and alt-rock influences (9 p.m.).

Rams Head Live! has a tots matinee today with Baby Loves Disco. Baby Loves Disco transforms Rams Head Live into a child-proof disco as children and parents let loose for an afternoon dance party featuring real music spun by DJ Adolf, blending classic disco with dance-floor favorites. Get down and boogie from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Arrive at any time during the event.

Rams Head Live goes back to the roots tonight with Yonder Mountain String Band (7:30 doors, all ages welcome). These guys met in college in Urbana, Ill., before moving en masse to Nederland, Colo. The all shred on their instruments and their live shows are legendary. Bluegrass-a-holics won’t want to miss this show.

Tomorrow

Rams Head On Stage continues to break the mold with the award- winning a capella harmonies of Take 6 for two shows tomorrow (5 and 8 p.m.; all ages are welcome at the 5 p.m. show).

The 8×10 Club in Baltimore presents Toubab Krewe tomorrow night (8 p.m.). These young musicians take their influence from West African musicians with a rock ‘n’ roll attitude.

Monday

The next Chick Corea could be young piano virtuoso Alex Brown, who plays a show on Monday night at Blues Alley as part of the Duke Ellington Jazz Festival (two shows at 8 and 10 p.m.). He’s been a featured performer in the band with Paquito D’Rivera and has played with Jon Faddis, Slide Hampton, Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

Monday night rapper Common plays Rams Head Live! on a double bill with N.E.R.D. (7 p.m., all ages).

Common is a master of hip-hop love songs and had a recent hit with British soul singer Lily Allen.

Tuesday

Brit-electropop band Hot Chip plays Rams Head Live! (7 p.m. doors, all-ages show), while German “neo-classical” heavy metal godfather and former guitarist with the Scorpions Uli Jon Roth (post Michael Schenker) does Hendrix on his “sky-guitar” at Rams Head On Stage (8 p.m.), while hip-hop/acoustic Irish-American rapper Everlast plays the Recher Theatre in Towson (7 p.m.). Everlast was up front with rap clan House of Pain and performed with Santana on the mega-selling album Supernatural.

Wednesday

The funky Bernie Worrell and the Eric McFadden Trio hit up Rams Head On Stage (8 p.m.) in Annapolis. Bernie is the keyboard funk master who carried George Clinton during the Parliament Funkadelic decade and was featured in the film “Stop Making Sense” with the Talking Heads. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. Most recently, Bernie Worrell has performed with Gov’t Mule, Les Claypool, Bill Laswell and others.

Thursday

Thursday night look for Them Eastport Oyster Boys and Seamus Kennedy at Rams Head On Stage (8 p.m.). These boys just keep getting better with their big band sound and top notch songwriting. The Maritime Republic of Eastport’s own musical sons, Jefferson Holland and Kevin Brooks, provide a knee tapping, toe-slapping, comical musical history tour of Annapolis, Eastport and the Chesapeake through their humorous, original songs and stories.

Seamus Kennedy, originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, has been entertaining audiences all over the United States for the past 32 years. With a ready wit and a vast store of songs, he travels from Alaska to Florida, Maryland to California, performing for audiences that range from Popes and presidents to bartenders and bricklayers, from college students to kindergartners.
