Posted on: Tuesday, 7 October 2008, 12:00 CDT

New Democrats released an English language television ad today focusing on the choice before hard-working Canadian families in this election campaign: Stephen Harper's plan for a $50 billion corporate tax giveaway or Jack Layton's plan to hire and train more doctors and nurses.

"Today five million Canadians don't have a family doctor," said New Democrat Campaign Spokesperson Brad Lavigne. "The ad reinforces the point that Jack Layton is the only leader with a plan to train more doctors and nurses."

The script can be found below and an online copy of the advertisement can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gZMcXlxOnE

This latest television advertisement will be featured on shows and networks such as: all national news casts; Dancing with the Stars; Canada AM; House, Dragons Den; Oprah; Spike TV; Bravo; BBC News; the Weather Network; Discovery; History Channel; Food Network; the W network; and HGTV.

"HEALTHCARE"

THROUGHOUT THIS COMMERICAL WE SEE JACK LAYTON SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO CAMERA WHILE A SERIES OF DRAWINGS APPEAR BESIDE HIM.

JACK: No matter where you live, if you're rich or poor, the most important thing to you is your family.

JACK: But in Stephen Harper's Canada, nearly five million people can't find a family doctor, and he has no plan to help you.

JACK: Every Canadian family should have a family doctor, and I'm the only leader with a plan to hire the Doctors and Nurses that Canadian families need.

JACK: For strong leadership, on the side of everyday families like yours, vote New Democrat.
